Shaikh Rasheed glide by Shah, solicits back for joint attempt

ISLAMABAD: After establishing contacts with leaders of opposition parties, Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) senior leader Khursheed Shah on Thursday held a meeting with Awami Muslim League (AML) Sheikh Rasheed, ARY News reported.

Both leaders exchanged views on arising political situation in the country in wake of Panamagate report. Matters pertaining to the premier’s resignation were also discussed, sources said.

The duo agreed to submit a requisition in the National Assembly (NA) secretariat to summon a lower house session to debate on the matter.

Political analysts believe the recent contact among opposition leaders is indicative of PM’s resignation demand gaining momentum.

Shah will also meet Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Pakistan Chief Farooq Sattar to agree him to submit a requisition for NA session.

Earlier, Khurshid Shah held meeting with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shah Mahmood Qureshi during which he said that if PM Nawaz wants to save democracy, he should immediately resign.

He said there would be no damage to the system if the premier leaves the office, adding that the PPP has no reservation if Nawaz Sharif appoints a prime minister by tendering his resignation.

Joining in conversation, PTI’s Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that Nawaz Sharif has left with no moral, political and legal authority to stay on PM’s post after the JIT report.

Qureshi affirmed support to demand of the premier’s resignation by PPP by stating that both parties had same stance over the issue.

He claimed that PTI was also in contact with other parties after which joint stance would be adopted.
