When it comes to the premiers of Game of Thrones, HBO tries to procrastinate in revealing the dates but unfortunately, Liam Cunningham who plays Davos Seaworth in the show, may have leaked the premier date of season 7.
In an interview, the GoT star talked about how he was going to disappoint GoT lovers:
“I’ve been disappointing various people around the world because it was meant to come out in April. It’s July now, I think. There’s going to be a launch and something special happening this year for the premiere. The bad news is, there will only be seven episodes and the [filming for the] final season starts again as far as I know in September.”
We knew that season 7 was going to get premiered this year but now we have an actual month: July.
But is the disclosure of the month an actual strategy to gain more viewership and create suspense? Why would a star of the show deliberately reveal the premier date or should I say month.
Whether done deliberately or just by accident, the lovers of the show now know exactly how long to wait to get their season going.
Cunningham also mentioned that something special was up this year and we might have some details regarding that too. Deadline, a Hollywood news company, reports that “Game of Thrones” is teaming up with Major League Baseball for Season 7.
According to Deadline, the partnership works because “Game of Thrones” will come out during the middle of the baseball season, and the show appeals to millennials, which is a group Major League Baseball wants to reach.
The report says at least 19 teams will participate and tie-ins include “co-branded merchandise, ticket packages, giveaways, theme nights, and social media events.”
There aren’t many specifics, but you can probably expect those promotions, “Game of Thrones” and winter to come around July.
